Street Art

Feel like taking a walk and stumbling on some great art works. I suggest starting in the Hunter St Mall. Walk along and check out the side lanes, plenty of art to find, stop for a coffee at a little cafe or buy a little something for yourself or friend.IMG_6149 IMG_6153 IMG_6152 IMG_6151 IMG_6154

Maitland Regional Art Gallery

What an inspiring exhibition! Maitland Regional Art Gallery is in the process of installing their new exhibition called ‘Op Shop’. Literally everything is up-cycled to produce each installation. The artists use lids from electric frying pans, buttons, gloves, plastic plates, old paintings, doilies, ceramics and lots more. The pieces are colourful and imaginative and get you thinking about what you could do with some of the stuff in your kitchen cupboards. The gallery is modern and spacious, with amazing facilities for kids (see my next post), a fabulous cafe (will post some pictures soon), shop and loads of parking. A short drive from Newcastle its a really great day out.
