Uprising

Posted on

Uprising Kitchen & Bakery, has been around for a while, producing their own breads and pastries, with a distinct quality only found in produce made with love. The bread is crusty and substantial, the tarts crumbly and not too sweet. Yet the item I can’t go past is the flakey, buttery croissant. All made on site. The cafe is modern, light and fresh, with a little room for kids to move in the surrounding courtyard. If your like me and have a couple of little ones grab your coffee and pastries and walk a few metres down to the nearby play area. (Milford St). Wednesday – Friday 7am-2pm. Saturday – Sunday 9am-2pm.

21-25 Downie Street Maryville

Double Shot Express’O

Opening three weeks ago this cool espresso bar is just the change Swansea needs. Caffeine is the specialty, serving Peaberry’s beans who can resist? Some snacks are available and the designer painted lounges are very cool. If your passing through and need a coffee or light snack, this is the spot.

Caves Beach

Over the school holidays I rediscovered a beach from my childhood, Caves Beach. Now everyone I have spoken to knows the resort on the beach but very few venture past this to the Surf Club and Cafe. This is the real hidden gem. With a perfect grassed picnic and BBQ area, lots of shade, amenities, caves to explore, gorgeous beach and great food (best burger I have had in years). This spot is perfect of a day at the beach. I recommend getting there early to get a good park. Once in Caves Beach follow signs to the Resort, got past it and all the way to the end of the car park, follow signs to cafe.

The Press

A cafe that encourages you to take your time, what a change from the rush of most. There is an endless supply of reading material, so if your alone no need to re-read the paper or an old issue of New Idea. Grab a book you might find the great read you have been looking for. Churchkey Espresso

Funky, cool, and hip come to mind when I first saw this new cafe. The walls are covered in Pianola rolls and the light bulbs are spiralled and exposed. The coffee is great, does anything else matter?

The Tufty Hidey Hole

Owned by artist Kiasmin Burrell, The Tufty Hidey Hole, is a great place to come for a heavenly coffee in an artistic comfy space. The cafe doubles as a gallery space for local artist. Having opened only two weeks ago, Kiasmin plans on introducing some great wholefood options and a few treats to match up with your coffee.

Rocksalt

Father’s Day was my excuse to try this restaurant, Rocksalt. It was great. My Sardines were cooked to perfection and the glass of sparkling wine matched the glittering water. Looking at the yachts it certainly felt like an enchanted life. The staff was so lovely, my soon to be three-year old invited her to his birthday party.

Seraphine is the gorgeous cafe at The Maitland Regional Art Gallery. A great modern space with, some cosy, relaxing nooks for a coffee and an outdoor dining area. Attached is a cool kids play area. The food was delicious, definitely returning for another lunch.
