County Dining

Posted on

County Dining are the new ensemble occupying the upper floor of The Sourdough Bakery at Morpeth. If you are in Morpeth this is the place to dine. Impeccable service and food, made for the perfect lunch.   I particularly loved the Bone Marrow on Toast and the Citrus Tart.

Day-tripping: Morpeth

The Locals like to refer to it as a village, Morpeth, a beautiful historic town is about 45 mins from Newcastle. Located on the banks of The Hunter River. Centered around the main st, Swan Street,  Morpeth offers plenty of interesting shops and activities. Start with morning tea at any number of cafes, stroll along the main street, ducking into all the great shops. Let the kids burn some energy in the children’s playground. The Greenway Gallery on Swan, is showing an excellent collection of contemporary art at very affordable prices, if you have a spot at home that needs a Belle Magazine touch. Choose from any number of places for lunch, I tried the Morpeth Sourdough Bakery it was excellent. The food was great and the service so friendly.  After lunch head down to the river for a rest or gentle stroll.

There is accommodation available in the area for a weekend away and boat tours on the river, check on the web site below for details and bookings.

Wedding at the Vineyards

What a great excuse for a weekend at the vineyards, a wedding. So many great places to eat, amazing scenery and wine. An entire region dedicated to beauty and wine, aiming an arrow at bridal perfection.
I suggest starting with a tapas lunch, Tatlers is delish.

Check in to any number of luxurious rooms, attend afternoon wedding, sleep in or early morning dip in pool, followed by breakfast at Cafe Enzo.

Finally sample some fine wines at cellar doors.

Awesome Mexican Food!

Looking for authentic Mexican food? Try Casa de Loco, on Pacific St, Newcastle. Great food, cocktails and atmosphere. If the Scallop Tostadas with mango tequila shot is on the specials menu definitely give it go, so good. For further details see http://www.casadeloco.com.au.

Customs House

Yet again Newcastle delivers an awesome day. Having an afternoon drink at Customs House, across from Newcastle train station is one of my favorites, the fountain outside is magestic and the building stunning.
